BRICS Media Leaders Meet in China for Practical Cooperation

Beijing, Jun 8 (Prensa Latina) Leaders of 27 communication agencies from BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) have opened today the Media Forum of the bloc with a call to increase practical cooperation.


Under the slogan 'Strengthening media cooperation among BRICS countries, promoting equity and justice in international media', the event was proposed by the state-owned Xinhua News Agency and jointly launched with the CMA Group of Brazil, the Sputnik News Agency and Radio of Russia, the Hindu Group of India and the South African Independent Media.

Xinhua President and executive president of the BRICS Media Forum, Cai Mingzhao, announced during the meeting that the agency will invest $1 million USD to set up a fund to boost media cooperation among the group's countries.

The fund will be used to facilitate the implementation of the action plan to strengthen cooperation among BRICS media and the development of practical collaboration.

This plan includes to promote a strategic partnership among BRIC countries, build a fairer international communication order; to fulfill media social responsibilities, and to expand exchanges and cooperation among media of the group.

The BRICS Media Joint Photos Exhibition was parallel opened yesterday at the National Museum of China in Beijing to show the development and cooperation of the bloc.

The exhibition, organized by Xinhua, displays more than 170 photos spanning more than half a century, selected by media exhibitors and from Xinhua's China Photo Archive.
